Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has no major concerns over a lack of transfer activity at Anfield this summer.
The Reds have made just one senior addition to Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad in the shape of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.
Meanwhile, the likely protagonists alongside Klopp’s side for the Premier League title have all spent big by way of comparison.
Speaking on Sky Sports News (2:00pm, August 31, 2021), Carragher admitted he had no issues with the way the club operates in the market.
I’m not worried about it, Liverpool’s owners don’t have the same level of income as Manchester City and Manchester United do. Liverpool have had a model since FSG have come in and it’s worked spectacularly. They’re seen as one of the best operators in the transfer market and what Liverpool don’t do is make stupid decisions and do silly things in the transfer market that maybe they did when I was a player. Everyone was screaming at Liverpool that they had to do something at centre back in January but the one they wanted wasn’t there.
The 43-year-old Liverpudlian went on to claim that the club wouldn’t replicate much of the business carried out by their rivals – including the money spent on Romelu Lukaku or signing a 36-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo on huge wages.

Although it might be difficult to watch those around seemingly strengthen, it’s important to remember the success and levels this squad has already reached.
Since winning the Premier League in 2019/20, Klopp has added Thiago, Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota and the aforementioned Konate to the squad, as well as integrating Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones into senior football.
Trusting the process has been increasingly difficult at times this summer – especially with the potential need for at least one attacking addition – but as the window draws to a close then all the faith has to once again be placed in Klopp and the squad.
