Incident at Brazil vs Argentina proves Liverpool made the right call to block £153m-rated trio

The international break is close to an end, and it has already tossed up some great games over the last week.

England have had a positive time, with them winning both of their World Cup Qualifiers so far.

However, despite some interesting games so far, there has been a strange incident that has never been seen before.

Yesterday saw Brazil take on Argentina in their World Cup Qualifier at the Neo Quimica Arena in Sao Paolo.

Shocking events saw the game abandoned after Brazilian health officials stormed the pitch after just four minutes.

The reason was to detain four Argentina players who had not met the quarantine requirements when entering the country.

As reported by journalist Sam Street above, the authorities took to the pitch to detain Emiliano Martinez, Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero, and Emiliano Buendia.

The players in question were released by Aston Villa and Tottenham for this week’s international break.

Liverpool, however, decided against releasing their Brazilian trio of Alisson, Fabinho, and Roberto Firmino.

This was due to the issue of them having to isolate upon their arrival as well as their return.

That would have meant they would have missed a huge chunk of the Reds’ opening Premier League campaign.

It appears as though the club made the right decision after the events of yesterday have caused a lot of confusion.

Following the end of this week’s international break, the club have a tough calendar of games ahead of them.

Liverpool will face Leeds in the Premier League on Sunday the 12th, and will then face a visit from AC Milan in the Champions League.

The Reds have a history with the Italian club and have not faced each other since the 2007 Champions League final.

If the trio of Alisson, Fabinho, and Firmino had been released for international duty they would be unable to play.

It could have boded very poorly for the club but their decision to keep the three at Anfield has certainly paid off.
