Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been discussing the possible extent of the injury suffered to Roberto Firmino.
The 30-year-old forward was a second-half substitute as the Reds cruised past Atletico Madrid 2-0 at Anfield on Wednesday night.
However, the Brazilian ace was replaced midway through the half and headed straight down the tunnel to receive treatment.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Alisson was hopeful that his compatriot was simply not taking any chances with the result already secured.
I hope it’s nothing serious. I talked to him a bit. I believe that in these moments it’s more worry and precaution too. I believe he did well. The team already had the result in hand. Obviously respecting the opponent, but with one more player, it’s very difficult for something bad to happen to us, the way we were playing. He will probably have an exam there, normally this is the procedure. But I believe it’s nothing serious.
The 29-year-old stopper went on to say that he hoped Firmino would make a prompt return to training and the injury wouldn’t see the 55-cap ace ruled out of upcoming international fixtures.
Brazil are set to face Columbia and Argentina in World Cup qualifiers over the next fortnight and Firmino, Alisson and Fabinho would likely be part of the squad.

Jurgen Klopp will also be hoping that the £36million valued ace doesn’t need a long layoff.
Liverpool have already been dealt an unfortunate hand on the injury front this season and some good news on Firmino would be most welcomed.
Despite the continued challenge of Diogo Jota, Klopp often opts for the intelligence of Firmino on the biggest occasions.
