Salah Secures Second Premier League Player Of The Season Award

It has turned into a phenomenal first season in charge for Liverpool gaffer Arne Slot, as despite having to deal with the uncertainty that surrounded the futures of three key players, and stepping into Jurgen Klopp’s shoes, the 46 year old Dutchman trusted his own judgement and tweaks and pretty comfortably took us to the Premier League title at the first time of asking.

The 2024/25 Premier League campaign for Liverpool results goes down in our storied history with another title lifted and added to our illustrious trophy cabinet, and we also finished as runners up in the EFL Cup, but we all know that we would like to have progressed further in our European competition and the Champions League, but that will now become more a priority for our gaffer with his feet firmly under the table as we go into the next campaign.

Although we all now know that we will lose the services of Trent Alexander-Arnold next season, we look set to be gaining the talents of the hugely rated Jeremie Frimpong, and we have completed successful contract negotiations with both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk as Liverpool predictions anticipated, so although there might be some player turnover this summer as Slot shapes his squad to a greater degree than he did when he first joined, next season should have far fewer distractions which can only help.

With Salah tied down, we will all breath a sigh of relief as the 32 year old Egyptian wizard once again proved his importance to us across the campaign as we saw from Liverpool live scores, scoring 28 times across the season and added a further 18 assists, and of course, there is still one game to go so he could well add to both of those tallies.

Even if he does not, that is still five more goals than anyone else in the division and he has notched up six more assists as well so far – and the record of 20 jointly held by Kevin de Bruyne and Thierry Henry is well within reach with a full 90 minutes to go.

When you factor in that Salah also became the highest ever scoring overseas player in Premier League history this season, eclipsing Sergio Aguero’s record of 184 goals, it was no surprise that he lifted the Football Writers’ Association footballer of the year award for the third time having incredibly received more than 90% of the total votes at play, so in many ways it was probably a shoe in that he would take the Premier League player of the season award once again and he will only add to that tally in future Liverpool fixtures to come.

He last won it in the 2017/18 campaign but this year he beat off competition from fellow team mates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch – with the 23 year old instead lifting the young player of the season award.

Fellow contenders for this years competition were West Ham United’s Declan Rice, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and unexpected Nottingham Forest pair Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood.

Salah is undoubtedly the worthy winner, and as fans we can simply congratulate him and hope for more of the same in the season that is to come.
