Liverpool have been drawn away against Wolves in the fifth round of the FA Cup after breezing past Brighton Hove Albion 3-0 at Anfield on Saturday.
Goals from Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mo Salah helped Liverpool to a 3-0 victory over Brighton as Arne Slot’s men eased into the fifth round.
The Seagulls were no match for Liverpool, as the Reds’ piled on the misery for Fabian Hurzeler’s side, who are without a win in six games.
For Liverpool, Slot’s hopes of finishing the season with a domestic trophy remain intact after a disappointing defence of their Premier League title.
The victory sets up another Premier League clash for the Reds against the league’s bottom placed side, though this time Liverpool will be the visitors against Wolves.
Here’s everything you need to know about the clash.
When is the FA Cup fifth round?
The FA Cup fifth round ties will be played on the weekend of March 7, in what will be a case of deja vu for Arne Slot’s side.
The draw means Liverpool face back to back trips to the Molineux, with the Reds Premier League clash against Wolves falling a few days before on March 3.
The game may be only a matter of weeks away, but Liverpool could face a long wait to see what date and time they will next kick-off in the FA Cup.
The FA Cup time remains wedged between the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, meaning a decision will likely be made after the draw on February 27th, when Liverpool will find out their next European opponents.
FA Cup Head to Head: Liverpool vs Wolves
The Reds recent history against Wolves is a mixed bag in the FA Cup.
Liverpool most recent FA Cup tie against Wolves came in the third round of their 2023 campaign. The Reds’ were eventually victorious but did need a replay to see off Wolves after a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
Before that, Wolves managed to get one over the Reds’ with a 2-1 home victory in the FA Cup third round in 2019 – a game which, incidentally, saw Curtis Jones make his first senior appearance for the club.
Wolves also claimed a famous FA Cup scalp at Anfield in 2017. Then in the Championship, the visitors dispatched a Liverpool team plagued by fatigue during Jurgen Klopp’s first full season with a 2-1 win.
Overall, the two teams have played eight ties in the FA Cup, with Liverpool progressing on just three occasions.
