One Liverpool legend has weighed in with his thoughts, as Arne Slot continues to receive plenty of criticism in the Reds’ hot seat, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur travelling to Anfield on Sunday.
Slot will be desperate to guide the Merseyside giants back to winning ways when Igor Tudor’s crisis-ridden Spurs make the long trip to L4, after watching his side collapse to a disappointing 1-0 defeat in the Champions League away at Galatasaray.
If he is unsuccessful in these aims, the Dutchman will be under even more intense scrutiny at the Anfield helm, with Spurs coming to the reigning Premier League champions decimated with injuries, alongside still failing to win under the early days of the unconvincing Croat.
Jermaine Pennant is certainly not a big fan of Slot, if his recent social media comments are anything to go by, as he was critical of Liverpool’s negative approach at Molineux, in a recent 2-1 loss at bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Saying he’s also “done with Slot now” after the ex-PSV Eindhoven boss failed to bring on Rio Nguhoma in a sleepwalking defeat to Oran Buruk’s men, the former Liverpool winger is likely just echoing what a lot of the disgruntled masses are feeling at the moment.
It all started so rosy for Slot in the Liverpool dug-out, having lifted the Premier League title during his debut season in charge.

But the wheels have come off somewhat this campaign, as the Reds now sit outside the top-four positions in the ever-changing standings.
Still, despite the doom and gloom that is currently engulfing Anfield, one Liverpool legend has come out to defend the under-fire Dutchman, who has called for patience.
The Reds legend who has called for a “bit more time”
It is easy, in the modern-day landscape of football, to get carried away and instantly call for a manager’s head when times get tough.
In the grand scheme of things, Slot will be regarded as a success story in the Liverpool dug-out to date, even if he has fallen short of his second-season expectations, with a colossal 35 league wins in his back pocket.
Jan Molby, who heroically battled for the Reds throughout his trophy-laden 283-game spell at the club, has come out in vocal support of the Premier League-winning head coach when asked about Pennant’s criticisms on the Anfield Index podcast.
He said: “Someone’s out there saying things that an awful lot of fans are saying, having previously represented the club.
I don’t have a problem with his opinion. One of the things will always be this guy has won the Premier League and not many people win the Premier League and maybe we got to give him a bit more time.”
The great Dane further went into detail as to why Liverpool must maintain their patience with Slot, instead of making a knee-jerk managerial call.
He also stated: “There’s more people like Jermaine who have kind of reached that where they think, ‘I don’t see what turns this.
Sometimes when you think a manager should stay when he’s under pressure, you’ve got to come up with an argument for what turns him.
You can’t just go, well all of a sudden we’re going to play well because there’s enough evidence this year that we’re not just going to start playing well.”
Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures – Slot must get these spot on:
| Date | Competition | Opponent | Venue |
| Sun 15th March | Premier League | Spurs | Anfield |
| Wed 18th March | Champions League | Galatasaray | Anfield |
| Sat 21st March | Premier League | Brighton | The Amex |
| Sat 4th April | FA Cup | Man City | The Etihad |
| Sat 11th April | Premier League | Fulham | Anfield |
Molby will hope Slot does manage to turn around his stay at Liverpool very shortly, as various pundits and ex-players continue to offer their thoughts on the 47-year-old, who is now proving to be a divisive figure, barely a season after being a triumphant Premier League champion.
