  • The Colombian is in red-hot form
  • Arne Slot already has two big-money frontmen

Liverpool are set to go all-in for Sporting CP star Luis Suarez, as yet more elaborate summer spending is anticipated on Merseyside.

Arne Slot’s reigning champions were the talk of the town during the last summer transfer window, when they broke the bank to land the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekikite in quick succession.

To be precise, £446m was reportedly splashed out on a horde of flashy recruits. Both Wirtz and Ekitike excited the Anfield masses against Galatasaray on Tuesday night.

Indeed, the German playmaker would carve out a ridiculous eight chances created as the Reds stormed to a 4-0 victory. The former Reims marksman picked up one of these devastating efforts, too, as Oran Buruk’s visitors just couldn’t handle the relentless energy of their hosts.

Amazingly, though, despite the match being such a one-sided affair, Liverpool looks to be hungry for even more daring attacking recruits, if new reports are anything to go by.

Indeed, it appears that Slot and his transfer chiefs are very keen on Suarez from Sporting. He is another red-hot striker from Portugal who potentially attempts to make a name for himself in England, much like hit-and-miss Arsenal centre-forward Viktor Gyokeres.

Liverpool want Suarez

Reports from Spain seem to indicate that Liverpool is preparing to splash the big bucks again in an attempt to snap up the striker Sporting secured to replace Gyokeres.

The report states that the current Premier League holders are readying a bold £69m bid for the red-hot Colombian, who – of course – has the same namesake as previous Anfield goalscoring royalty.

It’s not just names they share, with Suarez clearly a potent centre-forward – in his own right – based on his electric numbers in Lisbon to date.

Staggeringly, he has already put away 32 goals in only 47 appearances this season. Slot is surely licking his lips at the prospect of having the lethal 28-year-old at his disposal, next to Ekitike and Isak.

With that £69m release clause mentioned, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool puts their money where their mouth is, or not.

If last summer’s frantic activity is anything to go by, and the fact that the Reds have already splashed out £60m on Jeremy Jacquet, do not discount this rumour as just paper talk.

With Suarez up top, Liverpool could well be back in the Premier League title reckoning, in some style.
