Arne Slot has made a couple of Liverpool changes, as the Reds take on Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League in a midday kick-off on the South Coast.
Off the back of a thumping 4-0 win over Galatasaray, the Dutchman will be hopeful that the Seagulls will be the next side to experience the Merseyside giants’ wrath.
He has had some selection dilemmas to deal with, though, with Mohamed Salah dropping out due to injury, after bagging a stunning 50th Champions League goal mid-week, as well as Alisson returning to the sidelines.
Here is all the confirmed team news, ahead of the showdown at the Amex.
Mamardashvili comes back in
This is a big opportunity for the Georgian stopper to prove himself in between the sticks, with yet another injury niggle ruling the Brazilian out.
Alisson was fit enough to keep a clean sheet against Oran Buruk’s men, with Mamardashvili praying that he can follow in the number one’s footsteps and keep the Seagulls at bay all match.
This will be easier said than done, considering he has only kept one career clean sheet in the Premier League to date, but he will be hoping for a solid display, just before the international break intervenes.
Gakpo also has a big chance in attack
Cody Gakpo will also be desperate to prove himself, as he comes into the side, to try and fill the huge void left behind by an injury-stricken Salah.
Yet to pick up a goal in March, with his last goal coming on the final day of February against West Ham United, the Dutchman is often a scapegoat when Liverpool have looked feeble up top this campaign.
He was unlucky not to find the back of the net during the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, as one of his efforts on goal smacked the crossbar.
With Salah out, Liverpool will need a new hero in attack, with Gakpo perhaps the unlikely saviour.
Joe Gomez fit enough to be on the bench
There is some good news on the injury front, though, with Joe Gomez fit enough to be on the bench for the trip to the Amex.
Alongside the Englishman making up the numbers, Slot has a wide array of options he could call upon during the latter stages of the game to try and seal a result.
Rio Nguhoma will feel a little aggrieved that he is only a substitute, considering his many gut-busting runs against Spurs, so he might well be given a late run-out on the South Coast.
With Florian Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai and Hugo Ekitike all also starting, Brighton will have their work cut out to keep all the electric Reds attackers at arm’s length.
