Liverpool have entered the race for Luka Vuskovic. Following talks, Anfield officials scouted the £52m Tottenham defender to bolster Slot’s backline.
Having closely monitored his standout performances on loan in the Bundesliga, Anfield officials positioned the teenager at the top of their summer shortlist.
A summer of big change is on the horizon on Merseyside, with Mohamed Salah revealing earlier this week that he will step away from the Reds at the close of the season, after a 255-goal association with the club.
Alongside Salah, Ibrahima Konate could also be heading for the exit door very soon, with his contract in threat of expiring in June, with no new deal agreed.
While Konate has suffered from some inconsistent performances this season, it would be a blow to lose the Frenchman, alongside the legendary number 11, with Arne Slot routinely relying on the ex-RB Leipzig man at the back.
Liverpool have already made some moves in the market to try and strengthen in the centre-back department, with Jeremy Jacquet joining from Rennes for a bumper £60m fee.
But, they are unlikely to be done with just this one swoop, with reports suggesting that the Reds are eyeing up a Tottenham Hotspur star, as well.
Liverpool holds internal talks about signing Spurs star
According to German outlet BILD, Liverpool has started to hold internal discussions about snapping up Luka Vuskovic, with the Croat very highly rated in North London.
Currently out on loan with Hamburg in the Bundesliga, his fantastic loan spell in Germany has attracted onlookers, with Slot’s side keen on a deal in the near future.
Luka Vuskovic: 2025/26 season stats:
| Category | Statistic |
| Goals scored | 5 |
| Aerial duel success % | 85% |
| Defensive duels won % | 74.6% |
| Interceptions | 77 |
| Passing accuracy % | 87% |
Scoring a mightily impressive five goals as a 6-foot-4 unit, the 19-year-old has also averaged a brave 85% aerial success duel rate in a very demanding division.
Spurs will clearly put up a fight to keep a firm grip on their teenage sensation, but the Reds will want to get a move over the line, with BILD also speculating on Konate’s future.
Indeed, BILD indicate that Real Madrid have placed Konate on their shortlist of summer targets, with Vuskovic viewed as a readymade successor for the 26-year-old titan.
Liverpool isn’t alone in their interest of the Hamburg number 44, though, with Madrid’s nearest rivals, Barcelona, reportedly looking at the teenager, alongside Los Blancos.
Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also named as being interested, as Vuskovic becomes one of the hottest centre-back commodities on the market.
Valued at the £52m mark, it would be another expensive deal for Slot to sign off on at the back, having already agreed for Jacquet to join the Anfield ranks.
But, with Konate’s future up in the air, and Virgil Van Dijk entering the twilight years of his career, Liverpool are clearly preparing for the future, as they potentially look to welcome the defender to Merseyside in the summer.
