Arne Slot sent sack warning by former Liverpool player as Wayne Rooney takes aim at Dutch manager

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been warned by former Premier League star Danny Murphy that his sacking at Anfield is inevitable. He claimed that the fans have turned against the manager, and he does not see the Dutchman winning them over soon.

Murphy believes that Slot’s time at the Merseyside club are numbered and it would not be a surprise if he is shown the door. He added that the chances of turning things around at Anfield are few and far between because the fans have lost faith in the manager.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Reds midfielder said that it was the first time in years that the Reds faithful have turned on a manager and said:

“So the fan base for the first time in a long, long time has turned, and I was saying this the other day, and the final point is that as a Liverpool supporter growing up and a player there, I don’t remember, I can’t think of a time where a manager has lost the fan base and turned it round.”

“I just don’t remember it happening because the Liverpool fans are good at it. They don’t tend to turn, but when they do, I’ve never seen anyone get it back. So, it feels a little like it’s inevitable what’s coming now.”

Murphy’s comments come days after Slot slammed the FA and the Premier League for failing to support clubs with the fixture schedule. He called for more rest for the players, but it did not go down well.

Wayne Rooney slams Liverpool manager Arne Slot

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney was among those who hit out at Arne Slot, saying that the manager was moaning too much about the fixtures. He believes that the time given for players to recover is enough and said on BBC Sport:

“We’ve seen Arne Slot moaning about, well, not moaning, but making people aware about the time they had to recover from their game on the Wednesday and play Saturday.”

He admitted that he hates the comments from the Liverpool manager, adding that the Dutchman should stop looking for excuses and work on training to lighten the workload. He said:

“I do, I just don’t get it. There’s not that many more games now to what there was when we played. And when you’re playing games, you have that momentum of playing games. You know, you monitor your training, you get through the games, you’re fine. There’s no excuse.”

Slot’s comments were not a surprise as Ligue 1 has been helping Paris Saint-Germain by postponing fixtures.

The French side had their match against FC Nantes postponed this month to help the players recover between the two Round of 16 legs against Chelsea.

The Ligue 1 champions requested for their match against RC Lens also be posted to help them do better against Liverpool in the quarterfinals.

The league have announced that they have accepted the request and PSG will not be playing their league game between the quarterfinals tie against Liverpool, while the Reds face Fulham just three days after their first leg away in Paris.
