  • Liverpool want Diomande as Salah replacement
  • RB Leipzig desperate to keep young winger
  • More clubs show interest in Diomande

Liverpool are in the market for a winger this summer following Mohamed Salah’s announcement to leave the club at the end of the season.

The Reds have a few names on the radar, but have now suffered a setback in the chase for their key target. Yan Diomande is reported to be the top Salah replacement at Anfield after Bayern Munich shut the doors for Michael Olise.

The Bundesliga champions have said that they will not entertain offers even if clubs come in with €200 million. They see the Frenchman as a key figure in the squad, and are planning for next season with him.

Meanwhile, RB Leipzig are aware of the interest in their teenager, with several other sides also keeping tabs. The Ivory Coast star has been in good form this season, scoring 10 goals and assisting six times in his 27 Bundesliga matches.

RB Leipzig want Liverpool target at the club next season

Fabrizio Romano spoke about Liverpool’s interest in Diomande on his YouTube channel, saying that RB Leipzig would find it hard to reject a big offer for the 19-year-old this summer.

However, he added that the German side are looking to keep him for another season, and are pushing to renew his deal with a release clause added.

“A new way is exploring with the agents of the player. RB Leipzig have proposed to him to stay for one more season, sign a new contract with an improved salary, eventually play Champions League football with Leipzig and maybe leave in summer 2027 or 2028, with the potential inclusion of a release clause. This is the conversation ongoing, let’s see which way they decide to take.”

“Let me mention on a specific note, Liverpool. Liverpool are looking at wingers, Diomande is one of the players they have been monitoring and they have been following.

Let me say that if Liverpool, or one of the other clubs, decided to attack with big money this summer, it would be difficult for Leipzig to resist. But they keep insisting on this possibility to include a release clause and keep the player for one more season.”

Moreover, Romano added that the Reds are not alone in the chase for the Ivory Coast star. Manchester United and Tottenham made a move in January, but failed to lure him away.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on the winger. They are ready to pounce on any chance to sign the teenager and will be competing with the Anfield side.
