Liverpool will reportedly face fresh competition for the signing of Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho in the summer.

Having almost wrapped up the transfer on January deadline day, the Reds were expected to land the 19-year-old when the market reopens.

However, as fellow suitors, Arsenal, West Ham and Tottenham fall by the wayside, Manchester United are now believed to be keen on the attacking midfielder.

That’s according to a report from the Daily Star, as cited by FourFourTwo on Twitter.

The report claims that Liverpool and Manchester United are at the ‘front of the queue’ to sign the six-cap England Under 19 starlet.

This season Carvalho – described as ‘fantastic’ by Marco Silva recently – has scored eight times and provided five assists in 23 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £3.15million and heading steadfast towards the end of a contract this summer (Transfermarkt), whoever signs the teen will be required to pay compensation to Fulham.

Despite the interest from elsewhere, Liverpool will be hopeful that their January groundwork doesn’t go to waste and they can land the exciting youngster at the end of the season.

As an attacking project, few clubs can emulate Jurgen Klopp’s side and Carvalho would be another shrewd addition to the pool of talent already in situ.
