Liverpool FC have confirmed, via their official website, that 18-year-old midfielder Abdi Sharif has committed his future to the club by signing his first professional contract.
Sharif, who was born in Somalia but raised in Liverpool, started training with the Reds at the age of six and three years later, he officially joined the club’s youth set-up. Since then, Sharif has continued to work had and develop and as such, he has progressed through the ranks at Kirkby, right up to the U23 level.

The midfielder was a key member of the Liverpool squad that won the FA Youth Cup last season, and he even scored from the penalty spot in the shootout, which the Reds won to allow them to lift the trophy for the first time in over a decade.
Sharif will continue to play U23 football this season with an eye on eventually making the step up to the Liverpool first team.
