Academy Loan Watch: How did Liverpool’s youngsters fare at the weekend?

Liverpool’s academy has a lot of players out on loan all around the globe with most of them playing in the lower leagues of English football.

Taiwo Awoniyi & Anderson Arroyo – KAA Gent

Awoniyi was a 68th minute substitution for Roman Yaremchuk in Gents 4-0 defeat at home to Club Brugge.

Wesley scored a hattrick and Arnaut Danjuma scored the other, Arroyo didn’t feature in the game and despite the loss Gent remained in 5th place in the Jupiler Pro League.

Connor Randall – Rochdale

Randall did not feature in the game due to injury, Rochdale were defeated 4-1 away at Sunderland.

A Josh Maja and Lyndon Gooch double ensured Sunderland took home all three points and Matt Done scored the consolation for Rochdale.

The loss meant Rochdale moved down to 14th place in League 1.

Herbie Kane – Doncaster Rovers

Kane played on the right of a midfield three and played the full game of a 2-1 victory over Bradford City.

He got the assist for John Marquis’ second of the game and George Miller scored the goal for Bradford.

Rovers moved up to 4th place in League 1 thanks to the win.

Shamal George – Tranmere Rovers

George was the backup keeper and an unused substitute in Tranmere’s 1-0 defeat away at Newport County.

Fraser Franks scored the only goal of that game and they moved down to 12th place in League 2.

Cory Whelan – Crewe Alexandria

Whelan played the full game at right back as Crewe lost 1-0 to Port Vale, Leon Legge scored the goal of that game.

Whelan picked up a yellow card in the 60th minute and despite the loss Crewe remained in 17th place in League 2.
