Adrian won’t play for Liverpool again this season, according to former England goalkeeper Rob Green.
The Spaniard came in for Alisson at Chelsea on Tuesday evening, but he had a bad night at the office.
Willian’s shot squirmed through the goalkeeper’s hands to gift the Blues the lead and they went on to win 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ The Debate show, with quotes transcribed by HITC, Green outlined why Liverpool fans are unlikely to see Adrian between the sticks again this season.
He’s been brilliant when’s come in. He’s made a mistake tonight.
When you lose in a defeat that’s one or two goals, and it is that goal which sets the ball rolling, it makes it worse.
That’s season over, he’s going to have to sit and have a watching brief for the rest of the season. It’s a tough one to take.

Barring an injury to Alisson, there is almost no chance of Adrian adding to his 16 appearances this season, considering Liverpool now only have Premier League and Champions League football to look forward to.
The 33-year-old showed against Chelsea why he is a noticeable level down from his teammate – you have to wonder if Liverpool would still be in the FA Cup if Alisson has started.
I would personally have played the Brazilian, with goalkeepers unlikely to be affected by fatigue in the same way outfield players are. They don’t get through the same workload, so Alisson playing is not likely to have affected him negatively between now and the end of the season.
Jurgen Klopp has used Adrian in the cup competitions this season, and it would have been a surprise if he had gone back on his word, but it always felt like a risky move.
