Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson were in scintillating form on Wednesday night, particularly the latter.
Liverpool beat Salzburg 4-3 in a Champions League epic, with the pair proving to be two of the Reds’ better players at Anfield.
Alexander-Arnold crossed for Robertson to make it 2-0 in the first half, with the duo celebrating together afterwards.
Once the game had ended, Alexander-Arnold posted a brilliant tweet joking that Robertson scoring goals means he can’t set them up, therefore winning their annual assist competition:
Robbo can’t get an assist if he’s scoring 🤔😂 #CleverTrent pic.twitter.com/jJLiiXy2nY

Robertson swiftly saw the funny side of the tweet…

This perfectly sums up the bond that Alexander-Arnold and Robertson share, with the full-backs such close colleagues.
They are two of the poster boys of the Jurgen Klopp era, and on current form, the Liverpool manager likely wouldn’t swap them for anyone in world football.
Robertson was majestic at times against Salzburg, and while Alexander-Arnold was slightly less effective, his assist summed up his lethal final ball.
They are so integral to everything this brilliant side does and they will again be key when the Reds host a dangerous Leicester City team on Saturday afternoon.
