Alisson left out of Brazil squad for upcoming fixtures

Alisson has not been named in the Brazil squad for their upcoming matches against Bolivia and Peru.

The 27-year-old has injured his hip in training, not only ruling him out of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth, but also the visit of Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

Alisson could also be out of the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on March 16th, acting as a blow to the Reds’ hopes of wrapping up the Premier League title as soon possible.

The Athletic’s James Pearce has confirmed on Twitter that the goalkeeper will miss Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru on March 26th and March 31st, respectively.

Alisson’s absence is an enormous blow for Liverpool – thankfully they have plenty of breathing space in the title race.

Not having him available for the Champions League clash with Atletico is huge, though, and Adrian will need a perfect night between the sticks.

One away goal for the visitors will mean Liverpool need to score at least three to progress – the La Liga side haven’t conceded that many times in a single game all season.

In fairness, Adrian won all 10 league games he was involved in earlier in the campaign, so he has shown he is an able deputy.
