Alisson reveals Napoli tried to sign him from Roma

Liverpool signed shot-stopper Alisson Becker from Italian side AS Roma for around £65m in the summer of 2018.

The Brazilian has since won the UEFA Champions League and firmly established himself as one of the world’s best goalkeepers.

However, before completing his move to Anfield, Serie A club Napoli wanted to sign him. As quoted on the Daily Mail, Alisson revealed:

Napoli tried to bid for me. The president came to me, but if I went to Naples from Roma, I was going to put myself in a tough situation in Italy.

It’s not an official derby, but there’s a big rivalry between the teams. I admire Napoli a lot, they have a top squad and it’s always hard to play against them, especially when they are at home.

But I was committed to joining Liverpool.
