Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has wished Everton midfielder Andre Gomes a speedy recovery after his horrific injury on Sunday.
The Portuguese received lengthy treatment before being stretchered off to rapturous applause from everyone inside Goodison Park.
The midfielder suffered a fracture-dislocation to his ankle following a Heung-Min Son challenge which left many of the players on the pitch in shock and tears.
Everton confirmed that he underwent successful surgery on the fracture and will now spend time recovering.
As quoted on the Liverpool official website, Alisson said:
I just saw one picture. It’s really difficult. We know it can happen to anyone at any time.
It was an accident and I hope Andre Gomes comes back as soon as possible – and stronger also.

This is classy from Alisson. At times like this, rivalries are swept aside and the football world pulls together in support and unity.
It really was a horrific injury and as Alisson admitted, it was really difficult to see for anyone who participates in the sport.
But Alisson’s and everyone’s prayers are will Gomes and everyone at Read Liverpool hopes he makes a full and swift recovery.
