Andy Robertson reveals brilliant text conversation with Jurgen Klopp

Andy Robertson has opened up about a hilarious text conversation he had with Jurgen Klopp.

The 24-year-old was recently named as Scotland’s new captain, with the Liverpool man keen to let the Liverpool manager know about the situation.

What happened next was brilliant, with Robertson telling Open Goal exactly how the conversation unfolded:

I text him saying ‘just so you know I’m getting the captaincy’.

It was just out of respect because I didn’t want him finding out off of someone else.

I said ‘thanks very much for all you’ve done, I’m going to be Scotland captain, I hope it can be a success’ all that sort of stuff.

And then he just text back in big capital letters ‘You are the real Scottish Braveheart now’!

I gave him a thumb emoji and he gave me the wee dance emoji. Brilliant.

It is further proof of the close bond that exists between Klopp and his players, with the German creating a magnificent team spirit since taking charge in October 2015.

He is a manager who genuinely cares about his players and Robertson is an individual who suits him down to the ground.

The Scot is expected to lead out his country when they visit Albania in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.
