Arsenal optimistic of agreeing new contract for Liverpool target Saka

Arsenal are looking to fend off serious interest in Bukayo Saka from Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

That’s according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein, who claims the Gunners are keen to speed up contract talks with the teenager.

Saka has 18 months remaining on his current deal and the Reds are believed to see him as a potential summer option.

It does appear as though Arsenal are progressing in terms of tying the 18-year-old down to a new contract, with the club reportedly optimistic of agreeing on a new deal.

Saka looks a real prospect, which I think makes Liverpool’s interest in him exciting. Despite his tender age, the Englishman already has three goals and six assists to his name this season.

I think the Arsenal youngster could possibly come in as an able deputy to Andy Robertson at left-back, with the Reds currently light in that area.

James Milner can fill in there, but isn’t a long-term solution due to his age, while Yasser Larouci and Adam Lewis are unproven at the top level.

Saka is also capable of playing on the wing, so I feel that his versatility is also likely to appeal to Jurgen Klopp.

The likes of Milner, Joe Gomez, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all capable of playing in several positions, to name a few, which the manager has utilised during his time at Anfield.
