Borini accepts he has no future at Anfield

Liverpool striker Fabio Borini has accepted his time on Merseyside is over according to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.

The 24-year-old has caught the eye of Serie A side Fiorentina, with sporting director Daniele Prade confirming their interest.

The two clubs have held discussions about the Italian but Lazio and Inter Milan are also considering bringing Borini back to his home country.

Mario Gomez recently departed Stadio Artemio Franchi and Paulo Sousa’s side are looking to replace the German, with Dnipro striker Nikola Kalinic on their wanted list.

Prade said in a news conference: “We’re conducting negotiations with Dnipro.

“There are several negotiations in progress, all with the consultation of coach (Paulo) Sousa.

“Fabio Borini? He’s one of many possible solutions. The priority is to buy a striker.”

The arrivals of Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Divok Origi has put to Italian futher down the pecking order since his £10.5m move from AS Roma back in 2012.

Borini spent the last campaign on loan at fellow Premier League side Sunderland with the Reds accepting a £14m offer from the Black Cats but the striker rejected the move.

Brendan Rodgers also accepted a £10m bid plus add-ons from QPR on deadline day but Borini couldn’t agree personal terms.

With him staying at Anfield, the ex-Chelsea man was restricted to just five appearances in all competitions last season, scoring one goal.
