Brewster back in training ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup clash with Everton

Rhian Brewster returned to training on New Year’s Day, ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup third round clash with Everton.

The Reds host their Merseyside rivals on Sunday afternoon, looking to continue their almost decade-long unbeaten run against them.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to make changes for the game and Brewster is in contention to start.

The 19-year-old has struggled with an ankle problem of late and hasn’t featured for Liverpool since October, when the Reds knocked Arsenal out of the Carabao Cup.

He has been strongly linked with a loan move to Swansea City or Leeds United this month, in order to earn more regular playing time.

It will be interesting to see if Brewster starts on Sunday, especially with a potential loan move looming.

Klopp may not want to risk the youngster getting injured in what will be a feisty derby – something that would scupper a move elsewhere.

It has been a frustrating time of things for Brewster, but he still has his whole career ahead of him and patience is required.
