Carlisle have received ‘no concrete bids’ for Liverpool target Branthwaite

Carlisle United have received ‘no concrete bids’ for defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to chairman Andrew Jenkins.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 17-year-old, but the likes of Chelsea, Everton, Celtic and Rangers are also believed to be in the mix.

In quotes provided by the Glasgow Times, Jenkins said no official approach has made been for Branthwaite so far:

The Branthwaite saga continues and all I can say is that we have had no concrete bids from any clubs, so most of what you read are agent-led rumours.

It is up to the club to transfer players in or out, not agents.

It appears to us that Branthwaite is a top young talent, having already made 14 appearances this season, at such a tender age

Liverpool’s recruitment, in our eyes, has been so immaculate under Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards that I now have total faith in whoever they sign.

Should Branthwaite be a genuine target, we feel as though he would be an exciting addition to Liverpool’s academy, as they look to fine-tune another generation of top talent.

Although breaking into a star-studded Reds team is extremely difficult, Klopp still gives youngsters a chance, as the famous FA Cup win over Everton earlier this month proved.

I believe Branthwaite would jump at the chance to join Liverpool over anyone else, given their current status as world and European champions.

The new academy based at Kirkby next season would also allow the teenager to train alongside the senior stars, acting as further motivation to move to Anfield.
