Carlisle United have rejected a £500,000 bid from Everton for rumoured Liverpool target Jarrad Branthwaite.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim the League Two side ‘know they can push for a bigger fee’ for the highly-rated 17-year-old.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Branthwaite, but it had looked as though Everton were the favourites to acquire his signature.
That isn’t the case, however, and the Reds may be weighing up the idea of making a higher bid.
Manchester City, Chelsea and Watford are also believed to be interested in the centre-back, who has made 14 appearances for Carlisle this season.

Everton still look to have a good chance of signing Branthwaite, but Liverpool may be encouraged by recent developments.
It might be that their interest isn’t strong, but the idea of them bringing in another top young English player is exciting.
Harvey Elliott arrived from Fulham last summer and looks a footballer of enormous potential.
Liverpool are arguably the most exciting club side in the world at the moment, which could sway Branthwaite’s thought process.
