Jamie Carragher is concerned about Adrian at Liverpool, claiming the other Reds players are fully aware of his shortcomings.
The Spaniard continues to fill in for the injured Alisson and he kept a clean-sheet in Wednesday’s 1-0 win away to Ajax.
Despite the result, however, Adrian was a shaky presence between the sticks once again, spreading a nervousness throughout the team.
He did make a couple of good saves, in fairness, but he was fortunate not to be punished for dropping the ball in stoppage time.
Speaking to CBS Sports Champions League (21/10/20 at 10:50 pm) after the game, Liverpool legend Carragher outlined his concerns with Adrian:
There is normally a big difference between a number one goalkeeper and a number two.
It’s not normally like that in any other positions on the pitch, so he knows he is not at the level of number one. And everybody else in the team knows that.
There is nothing worse than a goalkeeper coming in and making rash decisions, it makes everyone feel nervous.
There were a couple of occasions early on, he clattered into Gomez. There was one late on when he comes to punch and he was fortunate that Ajax didn’t equalise.

It must be stressed Adrian is trying his best and giving his all for Liverpool, but Alisson’s return can’t come soon enough.
The Brazilian is such a safe pair of hands, and one of the world’s best goalkeepers, making everyone around him better and bringing a level of calm to proceedings.
Adrian is anything but that, in truth, making strange decisions throughout games and generally causing more problems than solutions.
The 33-year-old is an adequate backup ‘keeper, but to have him playing regularly for one of the best teams in Europe has highlighted his limitations hugely.
