Chelsea receive injury double boost ahead of Liverpool clash – one man is key

Chelsea have received a double injury boost with the news that Emerson Palmieri and N’Golo Kante will be fit for the weekend action.

Frank Lampard’s side welcome top-of-the-table Liverpool to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, looking to become the first team to take Premier League points off them this season.

Emerson and Kante both look set to take part, with the Daily Star confirming that they trained on Thursday.

Chelsea are still without Antonio Rudiger, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi, however, while Mason Mount is a doubt.

Kante is a hugely important player for the Blues, so in truth, Jurgen Klopp could have done without him returning to the fold.

The Frenchman is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world, although Fabinho is currently providing strong competition in that respect.

How Liverpool handle Kante could be the key to the outcome of Sunday’s match.

Emerson has also grown into an important player, though, having ousted Marcos Alonso as Chelsea’s first choice left-back.

His tussle with Mohamed Salah could also be key, assuming he starts, as the Egyptian King looks for his first away goal against his former club.
