Jurgen Klopp’s decision not to manage Liverpool in their FA Cup fourth round replay against Shrewsbury Town has proven divisive.
The Reds boss and all of his senior players will not play any part in the game next month, instead taking their winter break, as planned.
To some, Klopp has done absolutely nothing wrong, while to others, he has disrespected the world’s most famous cup competition.
Someone who sits in the latter category is Accrington Stanley owner Andy Holt, who took to Twitter to post a string of angry posts about the German’s decision:
He’s a disgrace.
I’ll never understand why top clubs and top @premierleague players don’t stand up and stay united with clubs and players further down the pyramid.
This is pure selfishness of the highest degree.
I’d drag myself out of bed to play the replay.
Because it’s… https://t.co/CwumQWA1mH

In my opinion, I don’t think Klopp should be blamed for his decision, even though it is bold.
The FA knew all about the winter breaks at the start of the season and Liverpool will have planned around it, in terms of keeping players fresh and the manager picking his lineups in advance.
While it is understandable that some are frustrated, not least Shrewsbury fans going to Anfield, Klopp is simply looking out for his own team.
Call it selfish if you want, but he has done nothing wrong and is simply punishing the FA for their own poor scheduling, if anything.
