Could Rhian Brewster’s brace answer questions about his future?

Rhian Brewster came off the bench to score twice in Liverpool’s 2-2 pre-season friendly with Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday afternoon, and with it, he could have sealed his immediate future.

There has been plenty of conjecture about the 20-year-old’s destination for the forthcoming 2020/21 campaign as multiple Premier League clubs have expressed an interest in taking the striker on loan.

However, following three goals in the Reds’ opening two pre-season matches, Jurgen Klopp may now choose to keep Brewster with his first-team squad.

The striker, who has been with the club since 2014 after leaving Chelsea, enjoyed a remarkable spell in the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan with Championship club Swansea, scoring 10 goals in 20 appearances.

Much has been made about where the forward’s immediate future may lie, and with the champions’ all but untouchable front three fit and firing, Brewster would be unlikely to see much first-team action from a starting perspective.

Although with his current form and having scored goals all through the Reds’ ranks, Brewster could now have jumped the queue and ahead of Divock Origi and become Klopp’s number one striking understudy.

For years, Liverpool fans have heard of Brewster’s goalscoring prowess but his development was somewhat held up two years ago when he damaged ligaments in his ankle.

Now fully recovered, could we be set to see the emergence of Rhian Brewster?
