Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has spoken of his desire to take Liverpool youngster Ryan Kent on loan, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The Sky Blues boss has spoken highly of the England Under-20s player, praising him for his ability and potential:
“He can handle the ball, play off both feet, travel with the ball and play anywhere behind that main striker, so it makes sense.”
He’s a young boy who has got a bit of pedigree because you know when they come from a big club that they’ve had a good upbringing.
The Echo claim that the League One side have decided to explore the possibility of signing the 18-year-old on loan after their attacking midfielder, James Maddison, was sidelined for several months after picking up an ankle injury.
Mowbray is hoping the young forward can “come in and do what James isn’t going to be able to do for the next four or five months”.
Coventry are hopeful of agreeing a deal for Kent soon, as Mowbray stated: “He’s a young player who we have noted an interest with Liverpool.
It might have a day or two to run yet but I would be hopeful of trying to close the deal. We’ve watched him for a while and he’s my type of footballer really.
Kent was highly impressive for Liverpool Under-21s last season, and was rewarded by Brendan Rodgers with a call-up to the first team squad for their tour of Asia and Australia last summer.
