Dejan Lovren believes Liverpool can match Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ and go the entire Premier League season unbeaten.
The Reds are yet to lose in their opening 17 league games in 2018/19, topping the table in the process.
Just six points have been dropped in that time and there is now genuine talk of a maiden Premier League title heading to Anfield in May.
Never one to mince his words, Lovren told Goal that he sees no reason why Jurgen Klopp’s side can’t repeat Arsenal’s 2003/04 heroics:
Arsenal did it before so why not?
[Beating Man Utd] was a good result I would say for us. Hopefully we can be unbeaten until the end of the season.
Of course it will be a challenge but this is what we want, this is why we came here to Liverpool, because we know we can do it.
Lovren’s comments are sure to divide opinion, with some feeling such confidence may be detrimental to Liverpool’s chances.
Others will feel that it sums up the positivity in this Red squad, however, as they go from strength to strength.
The Croatian is sure to be under the spotlight when Liverpool head to Wolves on Friday night, as they aim to go four points clear of Manchester City.
