Everton are ‘close to signing’ rumoured Liverpool transfer target Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Sky Sports‘ Alan Myers.
The 17-year-old has impressed for Carlisle United, producing some mature performances at the heart of the defence, making 10 appearances in 2019/20 to date.
Branthwaite has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent days, but it now looks as though Everton may have jumped in ahead of their Merseyside rivals.
The Blues are thought to have agreed a deal worth £750,000, although Myers does state that nothing is official yet.

Missing out on young English talent is always disappointing, but it may be that Liverpool’s interest was never too genuine.
With all due respect to Everton, the Reds are the more appealing club to join, given the choice, even though the academy at Goodison Park is impressive.
Branthwaite may see an easier route to the first team at Everton, in fairness, and more should become clearer in the coming days.
