Everton missed out on the chance to sign Andy Robertson, according to the club’s former director of football Steve Walsh.
Robertson has been a magnificent signing for Liverpool, proving to be one of the poster boys of the Jurgen Klopp era.
The Scot is now widely regarded as one of the world’s best left-backs, defending resolutely and providing endless assists going forward.
It turns out that Robertson could have ended up across Stanley Park, however, had Walsh had his way.
Speaking to The Athletic, the former Leicester City defender confirmed that the 25-year-old could have been an Everton player:
While I was at Everton, I offered them Andrew Robertson and Harry Maguire deals, when they were at Hull, and it was worth £20 million for the pair.
Everton wouldn’t take them.

It’s fair to say that Everton have missed a huge trick with regards to Robertson, giving Liverpool supporters another opportunity to mock their Merseyside rivals.
The Scotland captain has been a revelation for the Reds and Jurgen Klopp likely wouldn’t swap him for anyone.
Lucas Digne has admittedly been a good alternative to Robertson, but he is still not on the Liverpool star’s level.
Everton should have listened to Walsh, who was renowned for doing a superb job in recruiting players at Leicester, prior to their Premier League title win in 2015/16.
