As is often the case with Liverpool and transfers, things have seeming moved at a quick pace as reports have emerged saying that the Reds are in talks with Sporting Lisbon about a move for winger Gelson Martins.

The Basics
As mentioned above, Gelson Martins is a 22-year-old winger who is on the books at Sporting Lisbon. He’s been with Sporting since the age of 15.
International Status
Although he was born in Cape Verde, Martins moved to Portugal in his teens and as such, he’s represented Portugal at every level from U18s to full international status. He has five full caps for Portugal.
Position
Martins’ main position is as a right winger. In the 92 club games he’s played as a professional, he’s played there 85 times. He’s also played five times on the left and has made a single appearance as a right-back and a number ten.
Stats
As mentioned above, Martins has played 92 club games as a pro, those are spilt between Sporting and Sporting B. He’s scored 18 goals in those games and has 27 assists too.
Last season, he scored six goals and had 14 assists in the league.
On the international stage, he’s played five games for Portugal and has four assists. He’s yet to score for them.
