Welcome again to another Bib Theorists Fantasy League Blog.
Last weekend saw thousands of managers up and down the Fantasy Leagues use their WildCard. I personally used mine, and looking at the league table of the LFC Twitterarti league it showed to be an inspired decision. With Game Week 5 approaching, you should all know by now 8 of your 11 starters. These are the players who will bring you FPL glory (hopefully). The other 3 starters are players you’re not sure about. This is what this blog was created for. I created the LFC Twitterarti league to bring together some of the best LFC Fantasy Football players out there.
Seeing that this week Liverpool played Ludogorets. In honour of this I’ve asked two of the most famous Bulgarians I know, Kali and Bibi, to answer some questions about their Fantasy Football teams.
For those who don’t know Bibi and Kali are sisters, both are massive Liverpool FC fans and both are very good at Fantasy Football.
Below are the teams that they went with for Game week 4 (Bibi left, Kali right):
Mark: Bibs, Kali both of you had great weeks. Explain why you went with the team you did please…
Bibi: Oh, thank you. I was quite surprised to have these points to be honest and not cheering, after the Saturday games, I was far too behind in the points.
As an LFC supporter I started forming my team with definite 3 red starters: Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho. But the international breaks spoiled my red trio, with Sturridge’s injury. Danny would have been my all-time captain for the season if Roy didn’t destroy him!
I had to make a change and to bring a new red in the team, so I picked Moreno. As a consequence, I made a change to the forward position: Naismith in, Sturridge out.
Kali: Thank you. I am pleased as well. Honestly, I didn’t expect it, considering all the injuries that followed after the (damn) international break. I had Jovetic, Costa and Ramsey all doubtful. And was forced to make 2 changes in my team because of that, replacing them with Schneiderlin and Aguero. With Costa I followed my gut that he will play as he did… Because he was not certain I didn’t make him captain, probably should have anyway with Fabregas for VC.
Mark: Kali, why did you play your Wildcard this week?
Kali: I played my wildcard after GW2. I’ve had 2 very poor weeks so far with around 40 points and what seemed to be great team on paper in the beginning disappointed big time. I kept only Wisdom, Clyne and Sterling and replaced the others. Made it three Chelsea players, removed Lovren and Sturridge, put in Mata (hated myself for that) and added some Hull players for flavour. Change though was felt in this week rather than the last.
Mark: Bibi, turning to you for a second, you chose not to play your Wildcard when thousands of managers did. How come?
Bibi: I believe the next International break in October would confuse the EPL managers’ plans more rather than this particular break, because between the 10th and 14th October most of the team’s key players would be involved and had to play two games, not just one game like in this break and there is a greater chance for more injuries/changes.
Mark: Is there any player that you didn’t bring into your squad that you wish you had now looking back on the last Gameweek?
Kali: To be honest, while considering Jelavic, I looked at Pelle as well and he finally started scoring this GW. Otherwise I was thinking of the obvious choice of Sigurdsson but maybe in the next weeks.
Bibi: Southampton is doing great so far, maybe Pelle was a right pick. But I’m not disappointed not to have him. So far I like my team very much.
Mark: Di Maria was an inspired choice Bibi, what made you go for him?
Bibi: The truth is I tried to avoid any mancs in my team, but di Maria is a classy player and a good choice. He’ll be the only one manc to participate in my team, and only for 1-2 weeks I guess. To be fair I doubted between Costa and di Maria for the captaincy. Sturridge was injured, I knew Sterling would play approximately 30 mins, Silva had to played against Arsenal and Ramsey the opposite – all of them were a gamble. Costa was picked by around 50% of the people, it would have been cheating for me to name him and then seeing QPR facing Man Utd, I decided that di Maria was the one, but I’m not cheering with these points to be fair.
Mark: Looking at the fixture list for Game Week 5, who do you think will perform the best this week?
Bibi: The first one to point is Balotelli and Sterling too, both facing West Ham defenders. Also the advantage is with the Everton players, as they face the shaky Crystal Palace, so both Naismith and Lukaku to do a goal fiasco. Similary to this, Stoke facing QPR too, and Villa against Arsenal, having Stoke and Villa defenders would be a bonus, those who have Shawcross are lucky.
Kali: Hope Villa cause Arsenal some problems as well. Agbolanhor might be a cheeky cheaper option. You also need to look at Lukaku, Sterling and Balotelli. Sadly Di Maria is the luxury acquisition I probably should make. Bibs, my sister, put him as captain last week.
Mark: Without giving too much away for Game week 5, are you planning on making any changes to your squad?
Kali: I might change the defence because probably Chelsea will concede. Or the goalkeeper – don’t know yet. Will leave it a late call. Also Costa and Aguero pair bothers me as they play against each other so probably I should give it more thought.
Bibi: *Smiles* I’m definitely not saying this. In a week with Champions League football, I will wait until Saturday morning to decide.
Mark: Any players not in your squad that you will be looking to bring in over the coming weeks?
Bibi: Any Southampton player is welcomed, maybe Schneiderlin. I might look at Chadli too.
Kali: As I mentioned, Di Maria is a gem. Probably Blind, too. Sigurdsson does quite well as well. I would really like to include more Liverpool players again. It’s really strange not to have 3 of them every week. Let’s hope Balotelli finds his form and when Danny’s back they can be real power up front.
Mark: Girls, you have been awesome this week, thank you for answering my questions. Finally, Is there anyone in the LFC Twitterarti league that you’re especially looking to beat this season?
Kali: Obviously I want to beat Bibs, as I did last year. It’s an ancient rivalry this. Of course I’m looking at your scores, Mark, since I rate your opinion on the fpl things highly.
Bibi: Everyone! I’m in the 4th position with wildcard, be afraid :)

Hopefully that will help with your decision-making when coming to choosing your teams this week.

In my opinion Di Maria should be one to watch over the coming weeks. Unlike the other major FPL players in the league, he only has 30 – 35 more games to play this season. He is a guaranteed starter for Man Utd and unless injury occurs will be always amongst the points. At £9.7m Di Maria could be a FPL must buy before long.
