Liverpool sent out a massive title race warning to their rivals with a brutal 5-0 thumping over Watford.
Currently sitting top of the league, Liverpool have shown once again that they are are no pushovers and more than capable of bringing the trophy back to Anfield.
With two goals from Sadio Mane and Virgil Van Dijk as well as a goal from Divock Origi – Liverpool created another masterclass performance in the league. It looks like they can triumph over any team in the world when the side is in top form.
The win has come at a great time for Liverpool with such a busy fixture list in the coming months. They still have the Premier League and the Champions League to play for – with Bayern Munich being their next opponent in the latter.
It is clear that Liverpool fans would prefer the side focused on the Premier League rather than Europe.
Winning the Premier League would be a massive achievement for Liverpool. They are yet to win the trophy since the season of 1989/90 – which is too long of a wait for such a massive club. The Premier League title has been regarded as the “Holy Grail” by some fans over the years. It is what the fans want and this is definitely one of the best chances they will get to win it.
Liverpool have a huge task ahead of them. Their rivals in the title race, Manchester City, look unlikely to slow down and go off the boil. There is very little between the two sides, something that has been clear to see throughout the season. It will be a very nervous and tight race right up until the last couple of games.
Manchester City are still in every competition and hungry for more trophies, having already won the Carabao Cup with a win over Chelsea on penalties recently.
With City having such a busy schedule and not concentrating on one trophy in particular, they could drop points in the league. This is what Liverpool need to take advantage of and make sure they continue to take all three points in every game they can. This is the business end of the season and Jurgen Klopp’s side need to make sure they continue their great form.
This time next month, people will definitely have a better idea of who is leading the title race. There is only one point between the two sides at the moment but that is likely to change after the next few matches. It all just depends on how the Reds react and perform in this nerve-wracking period.
