Barcelona are not interested in signing Roberto Firmino, according to reports, as the Catalan giants look to find Luis Suarez’s successor.
The Spanish club are on the hunt for a long-term replacement for the Uruguayan, who at 32-years old, will soon be in need of replacing.
Speculation had suggested that Firmino was on the club’s shortlist, such has his development under Jurgen Klopp been so impressive since he signed from Hoffenheim in 2015.
Liverpool fans had been concerned that Ernesto Valverde could approach the Reds for Firmino, with the club not likely to want to let him leave, such has his importance to Klopp’s side as the glue that ties the forward line together been shown.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), Barca are more likely to pursue Tottenham’s Harry Kane that the Brazil international.
The report claims that ‘there is no consensus’ for Barcelona to pursue the 28-year old, despite his reputation as one of the leading forwards in world football.
Liverpool and their fans will certainly be buoyed to hear that, and while the report doesn’t explain why Barcelona aren’t interested, fans certainly won’t care.

While Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah take the headlines with their impressive respective goal tallies, Firmino is the man who knits everything together for the Reds.
Quite why Barcelona aren’t interested in the Brazilian is difficult to understand, but Liverpool fans certainly won’t care if it means they keep one of Klopp’s star men.
