Carlisle United have demanded £800,000 for in demand defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to reports.
The League Two outfit have seen their young centre-back attract plenty of attention this season, with Everton, Chelsea, Manchester City and Leicester all competing with Liverpool for his signature.
It had looked as though Everton had won the race earlier this week, only for Carlisle to reject their offer of £500,000, with the club expecting to command a higher fee.
Now Mail Online report that Carlisle have slapped a price tag of £800,000 on their young asset.
Liverpool may now be weighing up whether to come back in for the 17-year old, who is also interesting clubs across Europe, including RB Leipzig.
For only £800,000, Branthwaite would be a drop in the ocean for Jurgen Klopp’s side, while the Cumbrian would join a talented group of young defenders at Melwood.

If Branthwaite does indeed have the potential to succeed that many clubs perceive him to have, then Liverpool should absolutely make their move for the defender.
For such a low fee, Branthwaite could end up being a steal if he develops into a solid Premier League player in the future.
Liverpool should have no trouble convincing Branthwaite to come to Anfield, with the club currently appearing to be one of the most attractive prospects for a young player, particularly concerning the promise of future success and with opportunities to play under Klopp being fairly plentiful.
