Former Liverpool defender and football pundit Mark Lawrenson has revealed that he has won a secret battle with cancer, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The former Republic of Ireland international, now a pundit and commentator, told fans on Twitter that he had had a cancerous blemish removed from his face.
He also claimed that he had been given the all clear, revealing his nerves at having waited for the good news.
Lawrenson has long been a supporter of cancer based charities, having become an ambassador for Prostate Cancer UK in the past.
