Danny Ings is set to leave Liverpool on loan in January, which will scupper any plans for Daniel Sturridge to depart Anfield, according to the The Daily Mail.
Ings has been linked with loan moves to a number of clubs in recent weeks, including Newcastle, West Ham and Stoke, having battled back from two catastrophic knee injuries that have severely hampered his Liverpool career.
With competition currently too great for Ings to feature for the Reds’, Jurgen Klopp has recognised that the former Burnely striker needs a loan move to pick up game time at a senior level.
The 25-year old has featured as a late substitute in recent weeks against Everton and Bournemouth, but must start games somewhere to regain his match sharpness.
Despite Valencia and Real Betis having monitored Daniel Sturridge’s availability, he will remain on Merseyside if Ings leaves, with Klopp seeing him as back-up to Roberto Firmino.
Sturridge is desperate for game time to try and force his way into England’s plans for the upcoming World Cup in Russia next summer, but Klopp still values the 28-year old as an important squad player.
Sturridge has just 18 months left on his current deal with the club. Liverpool rate the former Manchester City and Chelsea forward at £30million, but they have no intention of listening to offers until at least next summer.
