Klopp claims Liverpool unlikely to make more signings

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that it is “not really likely” that the club will make any more signings this month.

The Reds’ have already signed Virgil van Dijk for £75million this month, and have also completed a deal for Falkirk teenager Tony Gallacher for £200,000.

Despite selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142million, Klopp doesn’t believe he needs to reinvest the money before the window closes next week.

Klopp said “It’s not really likely” when asked about any more potential incomings, although some outgoings could potentially still take place.

A plethora of clubs have confirmed that they are interested in taking Danny Ings on loan, although Liverpool aren’t keen on letting the 25-year leave this month.

When asked about the former Burnley man’s future, Klopp was coy on potential outgoing deals, saying;

I don’t think a lot of things will happen in the next few days, but if [it does] I’ll call you immediately, of course.

I can’t forget our needs – we have a lot of games to come. What I don’t like about the January transfer window, is that very often it feels like the season is over and we didn’t use players in the first half of the season so why do you need them in the second part? We have to plan a full year and that’s what we did.

Maybe if Danny could go somewhere where he could start the next 20 games, would it be perfect for him? I’m not sure. Of course, it wouldn’t be bad to have the opportunity to start a few more games.

Liverpool face West Brom this weekend in the FA Cup Fourth Round this weekend, having beaten local rivals Everton in the previous round.
