Liverpool are set to battle Manchester United for the signature of Napoli star midfielder Jorginho, according to a Daily Star exclusive.
With Emre Can seemingly on the way out with Juventus looming, Jurgen Klopp has identified Jorginho as the perfect replacement for the German.
However, Jose Mourinho has now come into the race, having decided that the 26-year old enforcer would be the perfect addition to his squad, with Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini on the way out.
The Brazil-born Italy international signed for Napoli form Hellas Verona in 2014 and has gone from strength to strength at the San Paolo Stadium.
Since signing with Napoli, Jorginho has gone on to become one of the most highly coveted defensive midfielders in the Serie A, and has helped transformed Napoli into title contenders.
Mourinho is reportedly ready to offer £50million to sign Jorginho this summer, so Liverpool will need to dig deep if they are to rival the Red Devils.
