Liverpool offered a boost by Italy international target’s agent

Liverpool have been offered a boost in their pursuit of Napoli star Jorginho, with his agent suggesting that he cannot join another Italian team.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been linked with a move for the 26-year old Italy international in recent months, with him being seen as the ideal replacement for the outgoing Emre Can.

Now, Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos has confirmed that several “big clubs” have confirmed their interest, while also suggesting that he cannot move to another Serie A outfit – a fact that strengthens Liverpool’s position.

The Brazilian-born midfielder has been an integral part of Napoli’s title-chasing run this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions. However, his impressive form has seen him attract a lot of attention around Europe.

However, given how highly the Naples outfit value him, England seems like his most likely destination.

Speaking to Radio CRC, Santos had this to say on Jorginho’s future;

Future in England? He has a certain value for Napoli, a certain figure that almost only Premier League clubs can afford.

Moreover, he can’t be sold to another club in Italy.

He’s being followed by big teams and that’s normal because he plays at the highest levels for Napoli, plus we’re talking about an international player now.

To date, no official offers have arrived. Jorginho’s only thinking about Napoli and we must wait until the end of the season to make certain assessments.

As for Napoli, we haven’t received a contract offer from them yet. Release clause? I don’t agree with them. Napoli want to set it at £87m, while we want it at £17.5m. It’s best to just not put one in.
