Liverpool Player Ratings: Arsenal (H)

Liverpool continued their impressive start to the campaign by beating Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield and keeping their 100% record intact.

A Mohamed Salah brace and a Joel Matip goal was enough for the Reds to see off the Gunners, while the away side scored a cosolation goal very late on via Lucas Torreira.

In a first-half where Arsenal were resolute at the back and played on the counter, Jurgen Klopp’s men found it tough to carve out clear-cut opportunities in regularity.

Instead, it was the Gunners who had two good chances falling to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe. While the former missed his chip by an inch, the latter should have done better with a one-v-one chance against Liverpool keeper Adrian.

The opening goal was scored just before half-time, when Matip rose the highest to turn in a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner.

Four minutes into the second half, David Luiz gave away a cheap penalty with a blatant shirt tug on Salah. The Egyptian stepped up to tuck his spot-kick into the back of the net.

Liverpool’s star man made it three in the 58th minute, when he received the ball on the half-turn, embarrassed Luiz and slotted his effort into the corner.

Arsenal got a goal back in the 85th minute via Torreira, but by then, the points were sealed by the home side.
