Liverpool suffered their first league defeat of the season by losing to defending champions Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad. Goals from Sergio Agüero and Leroy Sane were enough for the Cityzens, while Roberto Firmino equalised in the second half.
Five minutes before half-time, Aguero made a great near post run ahead of Dejan Lovren to find space. He was fed with the ball and the Argentine did supremely well to control it and finish in to the roof of the net. Alisson had no chance to save that.
Liverpool equalised 20 minutes into the second half, when Andy Robertson’s subtle touch at the far post was enough to find Firmino unmarked free. The Brazilian then had a simple task of finishing in an empty net.
City regained the lead eight minutes later when Sané found some space on the left-hand side. The German then drilled the ball towards the far post, and with a little touch off Trent Alexander-Arnold, it was away from the Liverpool goalkeeper.
As a result of this game, the title race is heating up now. The Reds are still four points clear but the momentum is back with the Cityzens.
