Liverpool to battle European giants for Rabiot

Liverpool are ready to battle Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain star Adrien Rabiot, according to Mirror Sport.

The 23-year old midfielder appears destined to leave the Parc des Princes this summer, with his current contract with the Parisian giants set to expire.

A France international, Rabiot is considered a key target by Barcelona, who see him featuring heavily in their plans. However, with manager Jurgen Klopp a big admirer of the midfielder, Liverpool are looking to steal a march on the player.

Spanish outlet Marca, as claimed by Mirror Sport, claim that Barcelona could however look to move for Rabiot sooner rather than later, with an offer in January the best option to safeguard their interests, despite the deal likely to cost the Catalan giants a pretty premium.

Barcelona faced a similar situation with Atlético Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann last season, having opted to forego an offer in January and wait till the summer, only for the Frenchman to have a change of heart and commit to Atleti.

This time, manager Ernesto Valverde will be aiming to make sure he doesn’t make the same mistake, while Juventus are also said to be keen on Rabiot.

PSG though are expected to continue attempting to persuade Rabiot to put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the club.
