Sadio Mané is an injury doubt for Liverpool’s final Premier League game of the season against Brighton at Anfield on Sunday.
The Senegal international picked up a knock during last week’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and has missed a number of training session this week as a result.
With a number of key men out already, uncluding Joel Matip, Emre Can, Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool can ill afford to lose the 19-goal winger now – especially with the Champions League final right around the corner.
Liverpool also need a point to ensure they will play Champions League football next season, regardless of how this years final pans out.
Asked if Mané would be fit, Klopp detailed his injury, saying;
We will see. It is not the same injury. It’s a fresh problem.
Klopp was also hoping to have Can back in training this week ahead of potentially being available for selection against Real Madrid later this month, but results of his back scan came back inconclusive. Klopp continued;
I cannot and I don’t want to close the door on him.
Of course it would have been better if he had come back on Monday and said ‘all fine, let’s start’.
That would have been three weeks (to the final). Now there’s less time but we will see.
