Rodgers insists he isn’t fazed by Liverpool’s Premier League points advantage

Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he is not fazed by the points gap between his Leicester side and his former club Liverpool.

Gameweek 17 saw Liverpool beat Watford 2-0, while Leicester could only manage a 1-1 draw with Norwich, leaving the Foxes ten points behind the Reds in the Premier League table.

Leicester’s draw saw them end an eight game winning streak, and it now looks difficult for the Northern Irishman to catch his former club, who are still yet to lose a game in the league this season.

However, Rodgers isn’t fazed, claiming he hasn’t really thought about the gap that divides first and second. As reported by FourFourTwo, Rodgers said:

It’s not something we’ve spoken about, everyone else has. These players have been brilliant, it says everything we have drawn a game and everyone is disappointed.

We weren’t quite at our level but we managed to get back and get a point. We’ll press the rest button and get ready for a [Carabao Cup] quarter-final on Wednesday [at Everton].

At this point in the season, even if it does seem a little early to make a judgement call, it does seem difficult to imagine anyone else winning the title that Liverpool.

Both Leicester and Manchester City know that winning every single game from here on out won’t be enough, and that they need the Reds to slip to give them a chance.

While there is still a long way to go and the Reds are by no means the reincarnation of the Invincibles just yet, it does look exciting from a Liverpool fan perspective.
