As almost every European league comes to a close, teams qualify for their respective European competitions – one of those being a Champions League play-off place, in which Liverpool have made.
It’s not the route into the Europe’s elite competition that managers plan for, but one they inevitably have to settle for.
Liverpool fans will have been waiting patiently for who their potential opponents will be, and now nine out of ten of them are confirmed.
With the Greek league yet to be completed, one team from PAOK, AEK Athens and Panathinaikos will join the list.
The remaining nine teams are; Viktoria Plzen (Czech Republic), Hoffenheim (Germany), CSKA Moscow (Russia), Club Brugge (Belgium), Sporting Lisbon (Portugal), Young Boys (Switzerland), Steaua Bucharest (Romania), Nice (France) and Istanbul BB (Turkey).
From those potential opponents, I would expect the Reds to make their way into the group stages of the competition with relative ease. Especially with Jürgen Klopp looking to add to his already impressive ranks, it should be a fairly manageable task.
