Five Liverpool youngsters that could step up to the first team

Liverpool have always had a strong academy, producing the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Trent Alexander-Arnold to name a few.

The Liverpool U23s are currently fifth in the Premier League 2 and are having a strong season with Matthew Virtue-Thick leading the scoring with six.

There are currently nine academy graduates in the first team and there is always room for more additions in the squad.

Alexander-Arnold has proven that it is possible to get into the starting XI on a regular basis while being fresh from the youth set-up.

With the squad a bit thin at the moment there could be a chance for a youngster to step up to the plate and help with the push for the Premier League title.
